Casa Volante Hostal: A Vibrant Stay in Valparaiso

By on May 4, 2016

I have stayed in many great hostels over the years – mostly by pure chance and luck, but as I was travelling with my lovely mother on my last adventure I was a bit more pickier about where we called home in  each destination.

IMG_0459I double checked reviews and location and ended up finding us a pure gem of a hostel in Valparaiso that I just had to share.

Casa Volante Hostal is located in the Alegre and Concepción hills neighbourhood, which I would say is the most central and scenic part of the city (also the heart of the Historical Heritage Site by UNESCO). We were in easy walking distance of the main viewpoints, elevators, sweet art, cafes, restaurants, galleries, shops and bard (and by easy I mean up and down some whopping slopes – Welcome to Valparaiso!).

IMG_2726Here is what you can expect at

  • Buffet Breakfast included, from 8 to 11 am (including fresh fruits, coffee, teas, milk, cacao, yogourth, cereals, white bread, cheese, butter, jams and dulce de leche)
  • Fresh fruit also available ALL THE TIME
  • Wifi that actually works really well (We even managed to get some Skyping done!)
  • Great fully equipped kitchen with a lovely dining area
  • 24 hour reception

We booked a (huge) private room and happened to have a whole separate apartment to ourself as the room next to us was empty. Other than a slight hot water issue everything was absolutely perfect – thank you for having us!
