As I walked through Dubai airport at 3am, I realised I had 7 hours until my flight to Kenya.

I had 2 options:

Option A (AKA economical option): Join the rest of the community who had decided to set up camp on the floor underneath the chairs.

Option B (AKA premium option): Splurge on a ‘SnoozeCube’.

I splurged. As nice as DXB is, there was no way I was going to get any sleep on that floor. And I still had to make it through a day in Nairobi. It was a splurge for my own wellbeing.

According to me, it is the best $100 I have ever spent in an airport. Yep, sure beats $100 spent on duty free alcohol… (Maybe)

It’s not quite a hotel room but it is a huge step up from terminal seating. These micro-hotel room’s right inside the terminal and at $21USD per hour (or $28USD per hour for a double room) it sure beats the $65US per hour that the airport hotel charges. If you are need in some sleep before your onward journey, it is well worth the splurge.

The precious 4 hours in my SnoozeCube may have saved me from some serious exhaustion.

Dubai Airport currently has 10 sound-proofed SnoozeCube units installed adjacent to C 22 at Dubai International’s Terminal 1. Each SnoozeCube has a bed, touchscreen TV offering music and movies,  wifi access, and room to hang your coat and store your carry-on luggage.
