The Seasonal Garden Cafe in Hahndorf: A Fresh Feast in the Adelaide Hills

By on May 3, 2016

Gone are the days of glitzy and glamorous imported edibles – these days it is all about fresh and all about IMG_3142nosh that is local and seasonal.
And you know a place that has it’s own veggie patch is going to deliver the goods.

The Seasonal Garden Cafe has been on my list-of-places-I-really-need-to-try for far too long, but since one of my closest friends now calls the cafe ‘work’ I had some inside knowledge that it was going to be great. And to celebrate my mothers last birthday it was a clear choice.

Organic, coourful, wholesome and out of this world delicious. Never had a vegan burger tasted so damn great and looked so damn gorgeous. There wasn’t even a bun. Our ‘Big Cafe Burgers’ was…

A quinoa and falafel burger served with roasted pumpkin, caramelised onion, fresh beetroot IMG_3143slaw, skordalia, pickled zucchini, greens and rosemary garlic potatoes and humus

And every single bit was as good as it sounds. This place blew my mind. Even the lemon infused water
tasted like it was straight from heaven itself.
But the best part? The place isn’t too healthy. Yes they have some awesome-sounding carnivorous options, but more importantly – they are licensed!

Because every ridiculously good organic meal should be paired with a glass of red. It’s only logical.

The popular town of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hill’s is notorious for it’s german feats – but I would highly recommend skipping the weenies and franks on your next visit and you will be in for a seasonally-wonderful treat.
