East Side Burgers: The Finest Vegetarian Fast Food in Paris

By on July 11, 2014

Sometimes all I need is a greasy burger. Even through Paris has it’s fair share of McDonalds I have a new favourite destination for my Sunday hangover meal in the city. East Side Burgers in Paris offers the finest burgers, hot dogs and cakes for those who can appreciate a meatless meal which deliver the same level of comfort as a Big Mac.

2013-07-21_04_11_28I first discovered the funky burger bar when I met up with my friend Manon for the first time. She is a dedicated vegetarian in a country of meat and I love how she manages to balance a healthy French lifestyle while bypassing the finest meaty French meals.

One of her tricks of the trade is utilising some of the cities vegetarian havens such as East Side Burgers. She visits the place weekly and I was lucky enough to join her there for a burger and a side of fries and happiness. It was just like a normal meat-eating meal that normal meat-eating people enjoy on a regular meat-eating basis (minus the meat).

The establishment is 100% vegetarian and has a cozy, funky, punky interior. The first level caters for quick take-out orders but downstairs you will find a small dining area with seating for about 20, so consider yourself lucky if you do manage to find a seat!

Manon and I were lucky that day. We placed our orders  and they called out our names when our feast was hot and ready.

For 10 euro you get a burger, french fries and a drink. I opted for the vegan burger. Of course, being in the city of meat and cheese I was impressed to discover that they also have a vegan cheese option! And it is the good kind of ‘fake cheese’, which makes you question whether it really is vegan. The burger was incredible and the home made french fries were perfectly frenchly-fried. The menu offers other comforting vegetarianified options such as hot dogs, budgets, quiches, and a wide selections of cakes and treats.

The amazing establishment offers all the delights that you are forced to avoid when eating meat-free, but I can honestly say they deliver the same amount of comfort as the meatiest burgers I have previously indulged in. So if you are looking for a great quick and delicious (and reasonably priced) vego stop in the city, be sure to visit the finest burger joint on the east side.
