The Start of a Journey to the Final Two Continents

By on March 31, 2016

I have seen the cherry blossoms bloom in Japan, I have watched elephants cross the Serengeti, I have snorkelled through the Great Barrier Reef, I have lost money in Las Vegas and I have had numerous generic snaps in front of the Eiffel tower. I have seen magnificent things from many corners of the world but there are 2 chunks of land missing from my map. It is time to complete the list. It is time to get lost in the amazon and freeze in the vast land that is Antarctica. This isn’t a bucket list trip, this is a trip of a lifetime (It is also a giant cliche, buy hey I’m a 21 year old white girl so I am basically a living, breathing cliche).  But most importantly it is a trip that I get to share with my favourite person on this entire planet.

IMG_2606How many 21 year old girls get to backpack through South America and admire Antarctica with their mum? Only a few very lucky ones (with cool mums) I assume.

I am a very lucky girl (with a very cool mum).

My Mum has agreed to spend the next two months putting up with me in 4 countries, 2 continents, and too many climates to realistically pack for. Yes, we both have backpacks, and yes my Mum’s weighs less than mine. And if we can survive the next 14 hours confined in a small economy row we can survive anything… Right?

    That is fantastic!

I only travelled with my mum for a few weeks around Scotland and it was the best!

I’m envious that you’re still out and about 😀 Looking forward to meeting up somewhere in the world. 🙂

About Me

Kat Knapp

Hello there, I'm Kat Knapp. I am a 26-year old Australian currently living in New Zealand. The past decade has involved a lot of travel which has resulted in me having visited 79 countries across all 7 continents. I have lived in Iceland, The Netherlands, Japan, France, Romania and Madagascar. Here is where I have shared a number of my adventures. I have an undergraduate degree in Sociology and Journalism, and am currently completing post-graduate study in Forensic Psychology and Teaching. I have my Private Pilots license, Adventure Dive Licence and Truck license which have led to some adventures on/above and below land. I hope to use this place to reflect on some missing adventures and ponder some non-travel related parts of my life.
