Hotel Mimi: Scrumptious Spreads and Beds in Sambava

By on December 16, 2015

During a week of being stranded in Sambava, we really got to know the capital of the Vanilla Coast – and the few major hotels and restaurants in the city…

Bungalow 02Mimi Hotel was no exception.

I remember when we first walked into Mimi Hotel, young and naive, to meet up with someone who could help us plan our hike through the nearby Morejejy National Park. I wishfully admired the vegetarian options on the restaurant menu and though to myself ‘what a shame that we will never get to dine here…’

Oh how very, very wrong I was.

After an attempt at the Morenjejy hike we found ourselves with nothing but time to kill as we worked out how to get ourselves ’emergency evacuated’ from the vanilla coast. And during this time I may have eventually ordered every vegetarian option on the menu…

But Hotel Mimi is more than just the perfect spot to kill time during emergency evacuation waits, it is also a wonderful hotel option in the area and even after over-dining there I still would say the food is pretty darn good. It also has a cute little bakery that looks awesome for those who have normal gluten-digesting bodies…

In an attempt to get a change of scenery from Hotel Orchidea we spent a night in Mimi Hotel (in the hotel rooms rather than the bungalows as they were full), and I must admit besides the strange staff who spent a good two hours not moving as an alarm continuously went off, the hotel is rather nice – and even has functioning wifi!
